Problem
Houston is the number one human trafficking site in America. According to the World Health Organization, almost 1 in 3 women have been subjected to either physical or sexual violence in their lifetime worldwide. And the Justice Statistics reports that every year, an estimated 400,000 girls are assaulted in the United States alone. After my own car was broken into living here, I felt I needed to do something.
Solution
I talked to real women in Houston about their experiences living in there to get a closer understanding of the problem. Along with online research, I sought to find how can women feel safe, not just in Houston, but in general from bodily harm. With this information and my supplemental 3D modeling courses, I designed a self-defense keychain equipped to protect women at every stage of an attack.
